The Honest Kitchen Cat Food is a line of holistic dehydrated, human-grade pet food. The company’s foods are all-natural and made from whole food ingredients, without the use of chemicals, by-products or fillers. Dehydration is a gentle process that maintains the natural nutrition of foods.
Founded by Lucy and Charlie Postins in 2002, the company was started in a San Diego beach cottage, and is now headquartered in the old Wonderbread Factory in San Diego’s East Village. The Honest Kitchen’s food is produced in an Illinois human-grade facility that makes cereals and other foods for human consumption. Ingredients are sourced directly from human-grade food sources. Due to the sourcing of ingredients, this cat food has a loyal following even with its higher prices. While some grocery stores carry their products, many times their products must be purchased from specialty pet stores or online.
The Honest Kitchen has unfortunately been involved in some recent recalls including their latest recall in 2013. They were not involved with the deadly melamine recalls in 2007.
